Leadership Lessons at PAU

Image
Leadership is not about position, title or even gray hair. Much of it...is INFLUENCE by example, not mere talk. So some persons just come across you , make outstanding impression that influence your life, experience you can't wait to share. You search for the most available friend and pour out the details. Here's me sharing. Me: Guy , how far, how your day na? Friend: Hectic o, real busy Me: Pele...some days are like that                       Well I had an interesting experience today. I got to the school center or canteen at lunch time and saw my  vice chancellor having lunch. I couldn't believe it.                     I quickly bought my food and went to his table...of course my classmates stayed far away                       Me: He's Spanish   He engaged me in a conversation. It's amazing cos I never saw my rector in Yabatech , nor University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor                      Friend: Hmmm. That's the difference with other internati

Samaritan Lamentations

'Will my country ever be good again? Is it still safe to be a good Samaritan? ...' my friend asked as he shared his experience. The Good Samaritan concept is drawn from the bible, where a man helped a robbery victim instead of ignoring him like religious fellows before him . Here is a true life 2016 experience.  "A woman was killed and dumped in the church, the woman was said to be mentally ill and nursing an 8 month old baby . The news got to the pastor of the church ( an AG church in Eastern Nigeria) that there is a dead woman in the church. The pastor then reports the matter to the Oji river police station, the people who were around ask him to wait since they know the deceased.  The deceased relatives reported the matter as soon as they heard. the  police immediately locked up the pastor for 5days without any investigation , even though the bereaved family testified of his innocence and ignorance on the matter. The  police demanded 300,000 for bail, but when the f

Lessons on Humility

Image
I read a post today with a lesson on humility, it reminded me of a similar experience I had outside my country. It was break time during the conference and the food was strange, plus I hadn't changed my dollars to cedi. I hadn't visited GTBank in that country. And then No Nigerian around to perch with.  Chai! Suddenly, one of the participants invited me to join her banana feast.  I politely declined. She insisted and the hunger humbled me. We started munching and Gisting. I told her I was a musician, Realtor, blogger, teacher, HR enthusiast, social critic, management expert and leader in my country (hyping myself 😃). She said she's a civil servant, and she looked the part, dressed so simply. We were still Gisting when someone came addressing her as honorable. She then had a call, and begged to take her leave. Later I found out the woman was a senator, I mean like those in the house of Assembly ... I was like....😳  what! Has she seen Nigerian politicians in pu

WRITE IT DOWN

Image
The most important words in the world after  'I love you' ,is WRITE IT DOWN. All my life, I've watched my dad always in possession of a pen or pencil and paper, just in case he needs to write things down. It has paid off in my family. The powerful nuggets I'm about to share (just a bit though)  were written during a music rehearsal (in preparation for Toyin and Friends Concert aka  Worship Unscripted), as Mr. T poured his heart out as always,  challenging us to be the best in life. These words are Seeds, they're deeply important and borne good fruit in me. Now I'm multiplying it's impact by sharing. God bless you daddy. God bless you Mr. Toyin Adebola. 21 Nuggets for Life 1. One of the things to learn in working with God is speed 2. Be faithful to another man's vision, God will give you yours. Monteeclairs transformation initiative is proof of this truth 3. When you leave something, you've mastered it. What you've mastered, you're no

Monteeclairs 1.0 G.I.G - YOU IN YOU

#GIG001 was exciting and enlightening. We asked ourselves fundamental questions , because asking the right questions, gets us right answers and lead to quantum progress. Questions like who am I, where am I going, how do I get there, where do I start, when do I start, what will I be remembered for etc. We told ourselves the danger of not finding YOU IN YOU , which is that we end up Copying, Comparing and Competing. The subject is in exhaustible, feel free to send your questions, comments. Here are few things we’d like you to think about as we look forward to the next edition of Monteeclairs Transformation G.I.G. (September), culled from Who Switched Off your Brain by Dr. Caroline Leaf. Your mind is the most powerful thing in the universe after God. • Free will and choice are real, spiritual, and scientific facts (Deut. 30:19). • Your mind (soul) has one foot in the door of the spirit and one foot in the door of the body; you can change your brain with your min

Children are Spirits

Can you remember anything that happened to you before the were 5 years old? Most adults I've met can. Even my new neighbors, Tega and Royal, 8 and 7 years old respectively can remember and are willing to share unique experiences from when they were 4 years and below. Most adults with relationship issues were violated, abused, maltreated and disoriented as children. I doubt some ever grew up. A young man shared with me how their housemaid made him sleep with her for years (without his parent's  knowledge) from when he was 10 years old,  and now he's only attracted to older ladies. This reminiscing began after two recent incidents. A mother asked her 4year old daughter, Idaraabasi,  (also my Goddaughter) on the evening of her 4th birthday if she was happy with all she got. She answered yes, but she's not happy because aunty Beryl didn't call her. Her mother searched for me the next Sunday and told me very seriously to ensure I see my goddaughter. I still remembe
