Children are Spirits

Can you remember anything that happened to you before the were 5 years old? Most adults I've met can. Even my new neighbors, Tega and Royal, 8 and 7 years old respectively can remember and are willing to share unique experiences from when they were 4 years and below. Most adults with relationship issues were violated, abused, maltreated and disoriented as children. I doubt some ever grew up. A young man shared with me how their housemaid made him sleep with her for years (without his parent's  knowledge) from when he was 10 years old,  and now he's only attracted to older ladies. This reminiscing began after two recent incidents. A mother asked her 4year old daughter, Idaraabasi,  (also my Goddaughter) on the evening of her 4th birthday if she was happy with all she got. She answered yes, but she's not happy because aunty Beryl didn't call her. Her mother searched for me the next Sunday and told me very seriously to ensure I see my goddaughter. I still remembe

So we got feedback from the last article, Just Do It. Sam says, “…I’ve been gathering materials on procrastination and will power for weeks now. I read some and discard some…I’ve fallen victim of the procrastination thing so many times, I bet you’ve not…can we have a template to check procrastination, with record system and self-growth monitor?...” From our assessment, Sam is still struggling with procrastination. There’s a myriad of materials online on this subject not commensurate with long term impact on the consumers, why? Procrastination is a bad habit that slowly eats us away preventing us from achieving greater results in life. It involves pushing forward what you should do now for later time. This happens due to laziness, fear, poor planning or time mismanagement, confusion, pride, ignorance, indiscipline and distractions. Having tried the myriad of articles, to do lists, apps, digital calendars/task managers, alarms, diaries and even life coaching, I can tell y

JUST DO IT

One night in February 2016, I stumbled on a shirt with my name, Beryl. I liked it and joked about getting royalty on the name, only to see other Beryls had commented, 3 of them. I was intrigued. I had thought I was the only Beryl in the planet, such beautiful and rare name. An idea suddenly flashed into mind and I put it up as a comment... 'wouldn't it be nice to have all Beryls in one group?'. Someone laughed, another liked the idea. It seemed a bit odd to me, I didn't know what to expect but I decided to JUST DO IT. Created the group and began to search for Beryls on social media...oh my God! My findings were shocking. In 2 weeks, I had over 300 men and women named Beryl from all continents of the world, different time zones, races, faces from all spheres of life. It's a rare privilege for me, to be the convener. It's like chairing a UN meeting but much more fun. It's exhilirating, an incredible experience when Beryls unknown to each other b
